Accessing Scotland's Past Project

The 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of Banffshire, surveyed in 1869, shows a graveyard on the east bank of the River Avon near Inchrory. The map describes the site as the 'remains of' a graveyard, which means that it must have fallen into disuse some time earlier.

The site could still be identified in the late nineteenth century, but by the late 1960s, when an Ordnance Survey team visited the area, no traces of the burial ground could be seen, the site by that time having been incorporated into a pasture field.
