A group of five storage tanks have been recorded immediately N of Montfode Castle (NS24SW 1), from RAF WWII air photographs (RAF CAM obliques, 11862 and 11864, flown 1943). The area for the tanks have been excavated and tanks constructed and then re-buried under earth. The whole depot area has been surrounded by a perimeter fence. Within the fenced area are several buildings and the depot has a rail connection on the W side of the main railway.
The tanks are depicted on the latest edition of the OS 1:10000 scale map, (1981).
