Archaeology Notes

ND12SW 74 centred 111 235

Some cultivation remains and two enclosures, towards the top of a well-drained SW-facing slope overlooking the Berriedale Water, were recorded during a pre-afforestation survey of Langwell-Rinsary Braes, Berriedale. There is a well-defined lynchet at the lower edge of the cultivation and a few clearance cairns within it. The enclosures measure 7m by 6m and 14m by 12m narrowing to 8m in width. Both are defined by low turf and stone banks.
