5 sheets- map extracts. 13 sheets- rubbings from various brick and tile samples, made by the works; rubbings taken 4/1979. 2 sheets- site sketches of date stamp and company seal, 4/1979. 1 sheet- xerox from photographs B 26290 and B 26292. 1 card- with contact tel. no. for Mr Gilmour at Kilchattan Works. 1 letter- from T. Gilmour re. Kilchattan Kilns, 12/05/1981 (T. Gilmour owner of the works). 7 sheets- notes from various sources, mostly from newscuttings (1896-1934), covering such aspects of the works as Mr Gilmour's new works at Drumchapel; transport problems at Kilchattan; history, workforce & fuel. etc. 3 sheets- notes from newspaper cuttings, 1902 to 1978, re. history, transport, employees, etc.; including information from T. Gilmour and poem written at Kilchattan Butts, 1902. 5 sheets- copy of the lease for Kilchattan works, 1885, including 'Copy Plan of Kilchattan Tile Works' the red parts showing the buildings erected by Mr Gilmour. 17 sheets- xerox copy of title deed n/d. copied Dec 1978 with site plan and maps. 71 sheets- xerox copy of account book for 'M.S Vineyard', the boat owned by T. Gilmour of Kilchattan Brick and Tile Works, 1920's. 79 sheets- xerox copy of annual accounts & production book, 1883-1919. Copied 1978. 2 sheets- copy of extract from "Reminisces of a long life: A Home Among the Hills". d:after 1853, by Todd? (Reference made to a brother starting a new brick and tile works in Bute, and having financial difficulties: possible reference to Iain Todd, who leased the works in 1860s? Author Mr Todd, the elder (see also MS/500/44/32 Dalquharran Tile Works). 12 sheets- xerox copies of letters, orders & articles from the works: including reminisces of the works by T. Gilmour, 13/12/1949 & a copy of a letter from Garfield Todd, Prime Minister of S. Rhodesia, written late 1940s (Garfield Todd, grandson of Iain Todd...) 1 sheet- key/ description of works site layout, following visits on 11/1978, 4/1979, 19/08/1980. |
