Archaeology Notes

NJ04SW 1 c. 00 41

A flat bronze axe from Braemoray (Knock of Braemoray NJ 008 419) is in the British Museum (Greenwell Collection: WG 1795). It has a broken butt and blunted blade; its surviving measurements being 4 1/2" long, 2 9/10" across the blade and 1 3/10". Presented to Canon Greenwell by J P Morgan in 1909.

(Migdale type). Single find. Flat axe, brown, butt broken, cutting edge blunted, one barb broken and resharpened; length 122mm, butt 28mm, cutting edge 72mm, weight 278 gms.
