(NJ 0077 4603) Supposed site of (NAT)
Chapel (NR)
OS 6" map, Morayshire, 2nd ed., (1906).
The site of a supposed ancient Roman Catholic chapel, no trace of which is now to be seen. It was considered to have been one of the first Christian places of worship in the parish.
Name Book 1871.
There are slight a indications of the N and W walls of a building probably a chapel oriented E-W at this site.
Too amorphous for survey action, they occur within the remains of a burial ground of which the N and W wallls, about 2.0m thick, survive. The SE part of the burial ground is cultivated and the remainder contains no gravestones.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS(NKB) 18 August 1965 and (AA) 26 April 1971.
