What may be one unroofed shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet cvii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).

Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 25 February 1999.

This shieling hut is situated at an altitude of 410m on a dry moraine on the edge of the floodplain of the Allt an Dubh Loch, overlooking the west end of Loch Muick. It measures 6.1m x 4.0m externally and is aligned N-S, with an obvious entrance on the east side. The dry-stone boulder walls stand up to 1.05m and are five courses high in places. The structure is well constructed with square corners and inner and outer facings in all but the N wall, which is partially collapsed and has been rebuilt as a single wall line.

Information from SRP Glen Muick, November 2009.
