Archaeology Notes

NO28NE 3 299 882

What may be one unroofed long building, with one wall marked by a pecked line, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet c), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).

Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 4 March 1999.

This building is situated at an altitude of 444m, overlooking the wet, grassy flats of Coire Buidhe, and some 15.5m NE of a modern land rover track. It measures 5.7m x 3.1m and is aligned NE-SW. Its low, heather covered, stone walls stand up to 0.5m and have been terraced into the base of a gentle slope. The interior of the building is dished and there may be an entrance in the SW corner. The whole area is deeply heather covered and the structure is difficult to locate as a result.

Information from SRP Glen Muick, November 2009.
