Archaeology Notes

NJ02SW 9 NJ 0117 2372.

The cropmarks of parts of a possible enclosure has been revealed by oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1977 and 1995) 300m WNW of Balliefurth farmsteading. It is roughly oval in shape with an internal diameter of about 30m. A crescentic cropmark that measures about 40m across, is visible approximately 20m N of the enclosure. An area of rig-and-furrow cultivation, aligned NW-SE, and a number of indeterminate cropmarks, covers almost the entire field.

Information from RCAHMS (KJ) 28 July 1999.
