Watching Brief (28 July 2011 - 1 August 2011)
A watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a car park at Bridgend Farm, Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh. A row of surface sandstone lintels was removed to reveal two brick lined tanks. Examination of late 19th century maps suggests a farm outbuilding once occupied the location of the tanks although they may post-date its demolition prior to 1914. These may be farm slurry tanks. No finds were recovered.

Standing Building Recording (March 2016 - April 2017)
NT 27979 70990 A historic building survey was undertaken, 31 March 2016, of a former derelict and roofless farm building at Bridgend Farm. The farm complex appeared to be largely late 18th-century/early 19th-century in date, although it was apparent that building and remodelling work had taken place throughout the late 18th century and onwards. The former pig sty dates to the early 19th century, although the N part of the building is probably late 18th-century in date. The sty formed the SW range of the steading, which is now a derelict roofless building, with only a few features identifying its former function as a cow byre.
