Photographic Survey (9 May 2007)
Note (9 May 2007)
Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and built between c.1930-52. The foundation stone was laid in 1932, construction was presumably slowed by the Second World War.
Built in pink granite, the Cathedral is solid Romanesque with touches of Gothic, with a square tower and internally a simple lofty nave and aisles divided by Romanesque arches. Modern Gothic touches are seen in the slightly ogee shaped doorways and decorative detailing.
Photographed for the Listed Buildings Area Survey in 2007
