This intermediate station on the Edinburgh (Abbeyhill Junction) - Powderhall - Leith branch of the former North British Rly was opened (by the Edinburgh, Leith and Northern Rly) on 10 May 1846. It closed on 1 January 1917, reopened on 1 April 1919 and was renamed Junction Bridge Station (by the London and North Eastern Rly) on 9 July 1923. It was closed to regular passenger traffic (again (by the London and North Eastern Rly) on 16 June 1947.
