Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Reference to the 1st edition Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of Banffshire (1872) shows that a small farmstead named Tordhu stood on the northern slopes of Buiternach, about 400m south-west of Culraggie Bridge. At this time, Tordhu comprised one unroofed and one roofed building, and may have been abandoned. The steading probably dates from the middle of the nineteenth century. No trace of this steading appears on the 1972 Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 map.
