Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Nothing is now visible of a small unroofed building, which lay in moorland on the right bank of the Allt an Torra Mhoir, about 70m south-east of Bridge of Tormore, and is depicted on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map, published in 1874. It is likely that the building was destroyed when the Tormore Distillery was built in 1958.

Archaeology Notes

NJ13NE 46 1544 3500

A single unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Elginshire 1874, sheet xxxi), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1976). A distillery (NJ13NE 39.00) was built at this location

Information from RCAHMS (AKK), 26 March 1999.
