Statue [NAT]

OS (GIS) MasterMap, August 2010.

The statue of Rob Roy stands on a narrow ledge overlooking the ravine of the Leuchar Burn. The original statue of Rob Roy was based on a figurehead from a whaling boat; legs and a kilt had to be attached to complete it. The second statue lasted from 1865 to 1926 and the present statue was carved from redwood by Arnold Smith and erected in the late 1980's or 1990.

(Newspaper references: Press and Journal 14 March 1987 and 1 August 1990).

NMRS, MS/712/76.
