Archaeology Notes

HY20NE 19 251 079.

A cist and a short cist containing burnt human remains, were found in 1924 in a field adjoining the golf course. There were no associated relics but parts of the bones were 'covered with a greenish coloured substance'. (Information from the Orcadian 1 May 1924).

RCAHMS 1946.

No further information on this site could be obtained. The golf course is centred at HY 251 079. Found on the Glebe Farm (which is probably in the vicinity of the old parish church HY20NW 12)
