Archaeology Notes

NT54SE 58 5708 4119

Oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1995) has revealed the cropmark of an enclosure at the edge of a field 1.2km SSE of Birkenside farmsteading. It is irregularly shaped and measures about 100m across. The cropmarks of two other enclosures have been recorded in the same field as well as a number of other archaeological features in an area to the S (NT54SE 4, NT54SE 21, NT54SE 31, NT54SE 35, NT54SE 37, NT54SE 56, NT54SE 57 ).
