Archaeology Notes

NX96SE 18 c.9890 6348

NT 9887 6347 A brick and concrete WWII quadrant tower is situated on the shore near North Corbelly farm. Standing on four legs the single tower was used for spotting on the bombing range off-shore used by aircraft from Heathall airfield (NX97NE 153.00).

J Guy 1999; NMRS MS 810/6, 85-6 (vol.1)

The quadrant tower is not clearly visible on vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 41, 3209-3210, 3213, flown 4 May 1946), and the location cannot be accurately calculated.
