NO10SE 35 centred 1825 0015

A hospital dedicated to St Thomas 'for the reception of poor people' is described as being at 'the bridge of Portmoak' in 1184. Old Gullet Bridge is a small stone-built bridge crossing the original course of the River Leven on the modern B920, the causeway to Scotlandwell.

Activities

Field Visit (1997 - 2001)

Derek Hall managed an Historic Scotland funded project to record medieval hospital sites in Scotland. Gazetteers were produced for each regional council area between 1997 and 2001 with an overall review in 2001.
