The Sun Inn is situated on the N side of and is adjacent to, the A7 trunk road at Lothian Bridge.

Built around the mid 19th century, it is T-shaped in plan, two storeys high with a slated roof. A later period porch has been added to the front elevation with modern additions to rear. The public house has been painted white with black courses at the ends.

Annotated as 'The Lothian Bridge Inn' on the 1st Edition of the OS 6-inch map (Edinburghshire 1854, sheet), it is not annotated on the subsequent OS maps pre 1945, but is on the current OS digital maps. It was also formerly known as 'The Sun Hotel'.
