Dean house was occupied by the estate manager, Mr Burrell, Chamberlain for the Kinneil Estate, owned by the Duke of Hamilton. The house was later leased by Dr John Roebuck. At one time it was home to Mr Wilson, an iron master, who opened his foundry at Kinneil in 1843. He was an enlightened employer who built houses for his workers including the 'rows' at the Snab. It was his employees who founded the Kinneil Band. Dean House was situated at the entrance to Kinneil Estate on top of the Antonine Wall and was the Dower House of Kinneil. The house was demolished in 1950's.
