This intermediate station on the Coatbridge - Bathgate - Edinburgh line of the former North British Rly was also the junction station for that company's line to Manuel and Bo'ness. It was opened (as Blackstone Station) on 31 August 1840 by the Slamannan Rly and subsequently renamed Blackston Junction Station by the Monkland Rly. It was closed to regular passenger traffic by the London and North Eastern Rly on 1 May 1930.
