Archaeology Notes

NT67NE 173 NT 68800 76300

Aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1995) has revealed a series of cropmarks, including those of a possible ring-ditch, in a field 640m WNW of Little Pinkerton farmsteading. The possible ring-ditch in centred on NT 6889 7632, and has a diameter of about 15m, with various indeterminate cropmarks immediately to the N and E.

Aerial Photographic Transcription (12 October 2022)

An interpretative transcription, or mapping, of information on oblique aerial photographs was produced on 12 October 2022.

Aerial Photographic Interpretation (13 October 2022)

The remains of two field boundaries, perhaps forming boundaries either side of a road or track, and linear features have been recorded as cropmarking on oblique photographs (RCAHMPSAP 1995) on gently sloping ground about 80m S of Spott Burn. The boundaries are oriented from N to S and set about 11m apart, the W boundary extending for about 89m and the E for about 152m. The linear features have been recorded to the E.
