The military road heads N into Keith on the line of the A96(T).
W Taylor 1976.
The military road crosses a burn, then heads NW towards Keith, entering the SE corner of the town.
G Taylor and A Skinner 1776.
(NJ 4499 4825 to NJ 4328 4999) approximate course of road.
(NJ 4482 4838 to NJ 4455 4877) track.
Visited by OS (FS) 30 April 1973.
The road is believed locally to have passed through a gully at NJ 4405 4916 where there are vague traces of flanking banks about 6m apart. Otherwise on this sheet the route is either played out or overlaid by later tracks and roads.
Visited by OS (AA) 11 September 1973.

NJ 4482 4839 to NJ 4458 4864 ploughed out. No trace.

NJ 4441 4892 to NJ 4437 4895 no trace.

NJ 4408 4915 to NJ 4403 4918 vague traces of probable route in gully.
NJ 4403 4918 to NJ 4378 4928 no trace.
NJ 4378 4928 to NJ 4324 4999 modern road probably on line.
Visited by OS June 1967.
There is a discrepancy on this map sheet between the route described by Taylor (1976), who maintains that the military road follows the entire line of the A96, and the OS, who record the route as starting on tracks and then joining the modern road at NJ 4378 4928 and following its course from that point into Keith.
Information from RCAHMS (MW) 8 March 1999.
W Taylor 1976.
Visited by OS June 1967, (FS) 30 April 1973 and (AA) 11 September 1973.
