Archaeology Notes

NH74NE 33 7581 4761.

At NH 7581 4761 overlooking a bend in the Rough Burn, is a cairn c. 7.0m in diameter and c 0.2m high covered with whins and young conifers. Six intermittent earthfast stones, probably part of a kerb occur around the S arc.

When recorded by the OS in 1971, this cairn measured about 7m in diameter and 0.2m in height; what may have been six kerb-stones were visible on the S. The cairn is now inaccessible in dense forest.
