Archaeology Notes

NH74NE 24 c. 76 45.

A cairn (prob. stone circle is meant) was examined, during an excursion on the 28th June 1879, above Culloden (Moor) Station. It consisted of 25 stones of which only 7 appeared to be in their original position.

ISSFC 1885.

There is no trace, and no local knowledge of this cairn or stone circle.

Visited by OS (N K B) 12 August 1964.

In 1879 a cairn was recorded 'above Culloden station'; only seven stones remained in situ.The cairn cannot now be located.
