Archaeology Notes

NH73NW 19 7309 3841.

At NH 7309 3841 within a field system (NH73NW 10) is a heather covered stony mound, c.10.0m E-W by c.8.5m transversely, with five or six stones on edge around its S arc. It occurs on the N edge of an ancient field and has partially spilled down the lynchet bounding the field. It may be a stone clearance heap, but its size and the presence of the stones on edge, could suggest that it was a cairn.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (A A) 3 January 1972.
