Architecture Notes

150 St Vincent Street was recorded as part of the Threatened Buildings Survey on 14 April 2022. There are proposals to redevelop the site and the opportunity was taken to record this interesting example of unlisted 1970's commercial architecture. It is described in Buildings of Scotland Glasgow volume as 'big and bold and thoughtfully designed'. 150 St Vincent Street was designed for Scottish Amicable Life Assurance as their headquarters by King, Main and Ellison 1973-6. It survives externally largely unaltered. The prominent yellow canopies appear to be original although when built they were a subtler stone colour.

Activities

Project

A selection of sites from the over-arching Scotstyle list which would potentially form a survey of the post-1975 buildings.
