Photographic Survey (2 February 2020)

Cafe Gandolfi, opened in 1979 in the area just to the east of the city centre now known as the 'Merchant City' but historically a commercial area of offices and warehouses, somewhat rundown by the 1970's. The interior fit out and furniture was some of the earliest created by designer Tim Stead (1952-2000), then still an art student. The furniture for the cafe extension on the cafe's 1st floor came from the Stead workshop which has continued to work with Stead's designs which (see also Nether Blainslie, The Steading Ref.361934 and Workshop, Ref. 361935).
