Archaeology Notes

NS52SE 35 c. 577 221

This intermediate station on the Ayr - Muirkirk branch line of the former Glasgow and South-Western Rly. was opened by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Rly. on 9 August 1848. It closed to regular passenger traffic on 3 July 1950.

The location of this station cannot be accurately established on the basis of the available information. It was situated to the W of Logar Station (NS52SE 36) but is not indicated on the OS 6-inch map of 1897. Commondyke Farm is at NS 5775 2251.
