Archaeology Notes

NH73NW 42.02 7119 3730.

This military bridge over the Midlairgs Burn, now fallen into disuse, was propped up from below 50 years ago to prevent it from collapsing. This supporting woodwork has now sunk, leaving a gap between it and the bridge, although the latter remains intact. Today the burn is spanned by a new bridge downstream of Wade's.

J B Salmond 1938; J and A Baker 1982.

In the absence of a field visit report, the location assigned to this record remains unverified. It may refer to the later (and present) bridge. The published line of the fencelines on published maps may suggest a location for the old bridge at NH c. 7122 3728.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 29 April 2005.
