Brucefield House was built for Alexander Bruce of Kennet c.1720. A two storey pavilion was added to the original house in the mid 18th century, with a pavilion being added to the north in the early 19th century. This is when the Tuscan columned entrance porch appears to have been added. The house was restored by the Dunfermline architect James Shearer for the Bruce family between 1928 and 1939. This work included the removal of all the harl and a complete recasting of the interior, including panelling by Maclean of Clackmannan.
