The WW II structures visible on vertical air photographs (OS 72 177, 038-039, flown 27 June 1972), are: a circular feature at c.ND 3777 9392), possibly a barrage balloon mooring site, at least two concrete hut bases (ND 37757 93949 and c. ND 3786 9403), a small earth banked feature, possible a machine-gun emplacement at c.ND 3781 9390), small building at ND 37815 93947 and what may be a light anti-aircraft position at ND 37834 93936.
The light anti-aircraft battery is documented in the Public Record Office at this location (ND 378 940). The document shows that it was designated by the War Oofice as LF 4and was armed in November 1942 with a 40mm Mk I 'Bofors' gun, and manned by 59 Regiment (PRO (WO 166/7270).
Other structures are visible on the air photographs, most notably the footings of two buildings, almost certainly from an earlier period.
Some of the features are shown on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map.
