Archaeology Notes

NH67NE 8 6602 7788 and 6609 7788.

At NH 6609 7789 on a shelf in a S-facing slope is an oval stone-walled hut measuring about 13.5m from the NNW, through the ill-defined entrance in the SSE, by about 11.5m between the centres of a wall greatly obscured by peat. Several stone clearance heaps, probably from contemporary cultivation plots, occur to the NW of the hut.

Another hut 70m to the W is almost hidden by peat cover. It measures 12.0m from the NNW through the simple entrance in the SSE, by 9.5m between wall centres.

Both huts surveyed at 1:10,560.

Visited by OS (A A) 22 January 1971.
