Archaeology Notes

NH02SE 9 c.087 207

A building, previously observed by Robin Turner (the National Trust for Scotland archaeologist) on the S-facing slopes of Glen Affric, was not noted during a survey of the West Affric estate by J Wordsworth for the National Trust for Scotland. It is possible that this site may be the same as that noted at NH c.090 207 (NH02SE 8).

J Wordsworth (Wordsworth Archaeological Services) 25 June and 1 July 1995; NMRS MS 961/22, no.5

Activities

Field Visit (1 July 1995 - 1 July 1995)

To the W of an unnamed burn there is a round-ended drystone building aligned WSW/ENE which is c9m by c4m over walls c0.75m wide and c0.4m high. There is an entrance midway along the S wall c0.7m wide. Some 7m to the S is another building of almost identical proportions although the walls are barely showing through the grass.

To the E of the burn to the WNW of the structures is an oval enclosure aligned NE/SW c7m by c5m with its dyke c0.8m wide and c0.3m high.
