Archaeology Notes

NH65SE 17 6809 5149

At NH 6809 5149 is a denuded stoney mound c. 4.5m in diameter and 0.4m high prominently situated on a ridge. It could be a marker cairn but may be a burial cairn.

Visited by OS (A A), 7 January 1971.

Craigiehowe NH 67 51, 68 51 NH65SE 3, 16 & 17

Spread over an area of about 12ha (30 acres) on the ridge of Craigiehowe there are two hut-circles and seven cairns.

(8) NH 680 514. This cairn occupies the summit of a knoll 80m NE of (2); it measures 4.5m in diameter and 0.4m in height.
