Archaeology Notes

NH64SE 16 66 44.

In digging gravel from the summit of the hill above the Haugh Brewery, workmen uncovered 3 skeletons in coffins. It has been said that the brow of the hill was used in former times as a place of burial for those executed on the nearby Gallow Muir. Others say that these were the remains of some of Cumberland's men after the battle of Culloden in 1746 J Barron 1903.
