Archaeology Notes

NA92SE 7 978 222

What may be five unroofed shieling-huts, which are annotated as Ruins, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1854, sheet 34), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).

Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 17 July 1997

An oblique aerial photograph (CEU 1980) has recorded at least two of the possible ruined shieling-huts, just north of the inlet of Airigheann a' Chraois.

Information from RCAHMS (ALD) 9 June 2004
