This mine is depicted on the 1:10560 scale Ordnance Survey map (1959, Provisional Edition).

The mine is visible on WW II oblique RAF air photographs, (No.1 CAM, D800, D858, flown 21 May 1940). The Colliery was annotated on previous editions of the Ordnance Survey maps as 'Western Field Colliery'.
