Archaeology Notes

HY30SW 39 33 04

Notes, dated 1939, by J.S.Richardson refer to the discovery during excavations at Orphir of part of a symbol stone bearing a crescent and V-rod. A second stone,bearing a crescent and V-rod and a rectangular symbol, was noted 'built into the north west corner of the pend tower'. The present location of the two stones is unknown.

Orphir 1 - crescent and V-rod

Orphir 2 - rectangle and a crescent and V-rod.
