Other Details: Part of the group of mines designed to access 15 million tons of Upper Hirst coal, and serving initially Kincardine Power Station, and subsequently Longannet (NS98NW 65), to which it was linked by an underground conveyor running continuously at 10mph. They were highly productive, regularly exceeding 2,000 tons output per day. Flood damage was incurred during an overtime ban in 1983. Final closure was caused by flooding and gas problems during the 1984-5 strike, and the workforce was transferred to new mines at Castlebridge (NS99SW 41) and Solsgirth (NS00SE 6), and to the established collieries at Frances (NT39SW 25) and Comrie (NT09SW 31.01).
