Archaeology Notes

NH59NE 27 585 981.

When first noted this was interpreted as one of two similar clearance cairns lying about 8m apart N-S, and measuring 2m. by 2m. by 0.5m. high. In proximity there is a pattern of tumbled down walls.

Information from R J Mercer (Balblair survey TS report) 1978.

(NH 5850 9816) A heather-covered cairn, 2m by 2m. by 1.5m. high.

R J Mercer 1980.

One of a number of stony heaps typical of hut circle-associated field clearance, accompanied by discontinuous traces of field walls.

Visited by OS (J M) 10 June 1981.
