Ballochney Incline: Site of incline on Ballochney Railway with incline keeper's cottage dated 1828.

Visited and photographed by J R Hume, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, 5 July 1966.

Information from NMRS 749/159.

This is named on the first edition 6-inch Ordnance Survey map (Lanarkshire, 1864, sheet 8) as 'Ballochney Incline'. There is no evidence on the map for an engine house or any attendant structures indicative of a rope-worked hauling system.. This incline (which is now disused) originally belonged to the Monkland Railway Company.

Information from RCAHMS (MMD), 16 April 1998.
