Archaeology Notes

NN12NW 37 13777 28168

Location formerly cited as NN 1378 2815.

For corresponding railway bridge (adjacent to SW), see NN12NW 36.

This bridge carries the A85(T) public road over the River Orchy at the NE corner of Loch Awe, and to the NE of Kilchurn Castle (NN12NW 5). It is depicted, but not noted, on the 1977 edition of the OS 1:10,000 map.

The location assigned to this record defines the approximate midpoint of the structure. The available map evidence suggests that it extends from NN c. 13727 28218 to NN c. 13846 28094.

The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Glenorchy and Inishail (to the S) and Ardchattan and Muckairn (to the N).
