Accessing Scotland's Past Project

A disused quarry lies on the lower west flank of The Craig about 70m to the north-east of the A939 public road. A considerable amount of spoil is situated on the south-west edge of the quarry and a track, now overgrown, runs up to the quarry from the road. The quarry is first shown on the second edition of the OS six-inch map.

NJ20NE 109 2951 0749

This disused quarry is situated low down on the W flank of The Craig about 70m NE of the public road, to which it is linked by an overgrown track. The quarry measures about 30m from NW to SE by 16m transversely and up to 5m in depth on the NE; a considerable amount of spoil is situated on the SW edge of the excavation which is first depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1902, sheet lxviii).
