The first lifeboat house at Anstruther (NO50SE 48.15) was built in 1865, at the head of the old E pier. The present lifeboat house and launchway were built on the Middle Pier (NO50SE 48.12) in 1904, launching into the Outer (E) Harbour (NO50SE 48.14); this system remains in use. The lifeboat house and launchway were refurbished (and the former extended) in 1991 and 1995.
