Activities

Field Visit (April 1979)

Cnoc a' Chinn NH 594 452 NH54NE

A single cottage of stone and clay-mortar construction.

RCAHMS 1979, visited April 1979

Field Visit (3 January 2011 - 3 January 2011)

This ruinous cottage is located in a hollow between two wooded hills. It measures 15.2m from E to W by 5.3m transversely over coursed rubble walls 0.8m in thickness, that survive up to 1m in height. The entrance may have been in the S wall, and the building has probably been extended to the E.

A roofed building, and three small enclosures or fields, is shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire (Mainland) 1876, Sheet XI).

Visited by RCAHMS (GFG) 3 January 2011.
