A small quarry is situated on the SE flank of Cairnbeg Hill. It is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1870, sheet lxi and 1902, sheet lxi.SW), and may be of comparatively recent date.
