Archaeology Notes

HU49SE 11 4705 9251.

Local enquiry revealed that over 100 years ago a pre-Reformation font was taken from a chapel at Vollister (possibly HU49SE 3), and placed on the grave of a drowned man at HU7505 9251, where it is still to be

seen.

Visited by OS 19th May 1969.

A member of the public reports that the grave described by the OS at NGR HU 4705 9251 is located at HU c. 4725 9340. The modern grave marker is dedicated to Lawrence Moar who drowned in c.1840.
