Desk Based Assessment (1 October 2011 - 18 December 2011)
NJ 90500 11460 Cothill is shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition map (1869) as a U-shaped building with a small rectangular building and a small T-shaped rectangular building with an enclosure shown to the west. The second edition map (1901) shows the farm with a similar layout but with an additional smaller rectangular building to the south of the T-shaped building, and an enclosure around the main U-shaped building. The enclosure around the ancillary buildings has also extended northwards. A similar layout, but with additions, is shown on the current Ordnance Survey map (2002).
The farmstead is visible on aerial photographs from 1946, 1953 and 1966.
